Does anyone know how to bypass the catridge chip for canon ip4200?

Re: ip4200 by neil@neilslade.com (5/13/06 4:29 PM) reply	+ / -

Yes.

There is NO RESET CODE for the ip4200 that I know of, and the rumours of such are just so much nonsense.

Refill the carts, then IGNORE the low cart and empty cart warning.

When the empty cart warning appears, hit the 2nd button, the RESET BUTTON and ignore all of the dire warnings to continue printing.

You may try and HOLD the reset button for 5+ seconds and get rid of all the subsequent warnings OR

You may have to do this 3 times until the damn warning stops coming up.

NOTE: This will DISABLE any future ink level indicators for that tank.

You can also replace the PIGMENT ink cart with plain old DYE BULK INK without problem.

Help!! After going through the usual agreeing to void my warrenty, etc. now it ALWAYS has the RESUME button flashing orange 15 times. In desparation I put in all new (grotesquely expensive) Canon ink cartridges and it still refuses, blinking orange 15 times. Am about ready to pitch it out the window. Please advise if you've found a solution. Even the instructions from Neil Slade's excellent website didn't work.

Hi there:

I am about to “reset” my ip4200 and am unclear as to how you chose “»2 times Green (Power) EEPROM information print”.

All the other discussions suggest using “»4 times Green (Power) Waste Ink Counter Resetting”.

I can't figure out why the “EEPROM information print” would Reset the Printer.

Please advise.

I was 2 seconds away from getting ready to curse out Canon tech support, when I decided to try the reset code, (number 4) “4 times Green (Power) Waste ink counter resetting”

The printer took about 2 minutes to go through some self diagnostics, then I tried printing out some cool pics and it worked. You made my day. And you kept a Canon tech from getting his/her ear chewed out over the phone. Thanks so much.

John Pixma iP4300 15 flash error code, magenta says its empty/then not recognized. its actually 90% full. Just got this printer about 5 months ago, haven't used it much.

Re: ip4200 by fafadex (2/26/08 6:25 PM) reply	+ / -

it worked! but when i turn off the printer it goes back to the error… “unrecognized ink cartridge”… is there any permanent reset or disabling the fu* counter?? thanks you sooooo freaking much!!!!

I've tried following the instructions, but after I press the cancel/resume button the 4 times necessary, nothing happens.

The printer sits there with the power light solid green, the tray selector green and “offline” status according to Windows.

I'd really like to know how I can reset these damn counter chips now that I've placed some new cartridges in.

Re: ip4200 by John Lang (4/8/08 12:48 PM) reply	+ / -

the reset code eventually stopped doing the trick. I caved and bought a new magenta from Staples for 14$ then I waited 1 week and returned the bad ink saying it was defective. I now have a 100% working printer. Yeayyyy.

I did also manage to wind up spending about 50$ on other stuff while I was in staples, so who actually swindled who….

HAH.

Re: ip4200 Aftermarket 8CLI carts by neilslade (4/8/08 2:50 PM) reply	+ / -

I actually gave up trying to refit after market carts with the Canon chip– I had little success, and if I use my 4200 (almost never any more, use my ip3000 and ip4000 instead), I just refill with MIS ink.

Who has success with the aftermarket chips for 8CLI ink carts?

What brands?

Sorry to hear no one has figured out the ip4200 ink dilemma.

I have started using “reset” cartridges from this site. I was told they get them from China who DID figure out how to Reset them.

I have purchased many of them for my customers and have not had any problems.

Cost $8.99 ea. Better than $15.00 at Staples.

Looks like Canon has WON this game!!

Please note– if you refill– the cost is about $1 a cart.

Takes a couple minutes. Don't know about you, but my time is certainly worth $14 for 2 minutes.

Hi

I have been refilling my various Canons now for several years. I have refilled my ip4200 now probably 4 or 5 times.

Today I refilled my CLI8-BK and my CLI5-BK (drilling a hole in the tank, refilling with syringe, then gluing hole).

The CLI8 was recognised, but the CLI5 was not. I've inspected and cleaned the contacts on the print head and the contacts on the cart chip.

Any ideas?
