HP - Servers - Lights-Out 100
Reset LO100 admin account/password
Tested on an HP ProLiant DL180 G6 with Lights-Out 100 firmware 4.22.
- Have a USB drive ready.
- Download UNetbootin. Tested with version 6.25.
- Insert the USB drive into your computer.
- Start UNetbootin.
- Select FreeDOS version 1.0 at Distribution.
- Check that the USB drive you have inserted is shown as the drive to be used.
- Click OK.
- When UNetbootin is finished you should have a USB drive with the following files on it:
ubnkern ubninit syslinux.cfg menu.c32
- Download ipmitool.exe from Intel - IPMI Command Test Tool.
- Place ipmitool.exe from the zip file on the USB drive next to the other files.
- Add a text file named resetadm.bat next to ipmitool.exe on the USB drive with content:
ipmitool.exe 20 18 47 03 02 61 64 6d 69 6e 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00
- Insert the USB drive into the server with the HP Lights-Out 100 whose admin account needs to be reset.
- Boot the server from the USB drive.
- You should end up at the prompt:
A:\>
- Enter the following command to switch to the B-drive:
B:
- Now the prompt should read:
B:\>
- Enter the following command to reset the admin account password:
resetadm.bat
- Now you should be able to login to the Lights-Out 100 web interface with the default username admin and password admin, no reboot required.
