Remote Assistance en firewalling
Remote assistance relies on full network connectivity between the expert user's computer and the novice user's computer over the following network ports:
- TCP port 135
- TCP port 3389
- All TCP ports that are greater than 1024
If port filtering exists for any of these ports between the two computers, Remote Assistance will not work.

Remote Assistance failed
Scenario: Via GPO onder andere Domain Admins rechten gegeven om machine (Terminal Server) over te nemen, maar bij poging tot Offer Remote Assistance verschijnt de melding: “Remote Assitance failed. Please try again.”. Het System Event log op de vragende PC maakt melding van het volgende:
Event Type: Error Event Source: DCOM Event Category: None Event ID: 10006 Date: 3-7-2009 Time: 10:16:00 User: VM-XP\Administrator Computer: VM-XP Description: DCOM got error "The service cannot be started, either because it is disabled or because it has no enabled devices associated with it. " from the computer TERMTEST when attempting to activate the server: {833E4010-AFF7-4AC3-AAC2-9F24C1457BCE} For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.
Oplossing: Controleer of de Help and Support service draait. Zo niet, zorg dan dat deze gaat draaien.
